The Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University (DU) celebrated Saraswati Puja by setting up 74 mandaps on the hall grounds from Monday morning, seeking the blessings of the Goddess of Knowledge and Music.
Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam and Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud visited the puja mandaps around 12:30pm.
During the visit, Adviser Nahid Islam expressed hope for a religiously harmonious and discrimination-free Bangladesh.
“Through the July Revolution, we have taken a great pledge to build a discrimination-free, prosperous, and religiously harmonious Bangladesh,” he stated.
This year, students, teachers, and employees of Dhaka University organised the puja in a unique way.
The Jagannath Hall ground hosted 74 pavilions, including one set up by the hall itself, 72 by different departments and institutions, and another by a youth organisation representing hall officials and employees. Each pavilion reflected distinct themes.
Visitors of all ages, including children and teenagers from diverse religious backgrounds, gathered at the venue to witness the vibrant illumination and festivities.
Ononna Paramik, a student of Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall, told Daily Sun that students had been crowding the pavilions since morning, dressed in colorful attire and sarees, to seek the blessings of the Goddess of Knowledge.
